Let L410 – better than expected

September 11th, 2007

I’ve been away in Belfast this past weekend for a family wedding. This year, the island is pretty well served with air links to Northern Ireland by Manx2. They operate Let 410s and Metros – OK they don’t operate them, but sell tickets for Van Air, FLM etc. Whatever. Anyway it was my first trip on a Let, and I have to say it was much better than expected.

No cabin service, no scratchcards, no fuss. Get on the plane, fasten seatbelts, 5 minutes later we’re airborne. Several services per day too allowing travel at a more convenient time than the other carrier. Frankly, it seems just what is required for regular travel off the island. 30 minutes to Belfast. The cabin was a bit louder, but was comfortable enough anyway I guess 45 minutes would be about long enough though. It actually felt more spacious than the J41, with bigger windows too.

The best bit about the L410 from my point of view is no cockpit door, just a partition in the middle so one can see out the front and watch the cockpit operations. Fingers crossed for a Prestwick service now!
